316 carries molybdenum, which is what shrugs off the pitting and crevice corrosion that eats 304 in salt spray. On a fitting screwed flat to a deck, where salty water sits underneath and never sees oxygen, that is exactly the corrosion you get. Use 304 indoors and keep this for outside.
Routing a strap rather than anchoring a shackle. The staple sits low and leaves a slot the webbing runs through, so a tie-down can slide and settle instead of chafing on one spot. For a fixed shackle point you want something with a proper eye.
Not without a rinse. Polished stainless holds its shine because the surface is smooth enough that salt runs off, but leave salt drying on it through a coastal summer and you get tea staining. Fresh water after every saltwater trip, and a stainless polish once a season.
