Is the small can the same stuff as the big one?
Same MX3 formula, smaller can. The 100 g size exists so you can keep one in the tackle box, one in the console and one in the camp kitchen drawer instead of hunting for the big can. You'll go through it faster, obviously, so buy it for convenience.
Is it safe on rubber seals and plastics?
Yes — that's the reason people reach for MX3 over a petroleum-based spray. It won't swell or perish O-rings, hatch seals, wiring insulation or plastic trim, so you can spray a door seal or an electrical connector without wondering what it's doing underneath.
Where does this earn its keep on a boat?
Straight after the rinse-down, while everything is still damp. MX3 displaces moisture, so a light spray over trailer winch gear, hinges, latches, the trailer plug and terminals stops salt sitting in the joints all week. Do it every trip and you'll notice the difference come season's end.
