Yes — one-way hires (e.g. Sydney pickup, Cairns drop-off) are available on most vehicle classes. A one-way fee usually applies and some relocation deals waive it entirely. Availability shows live in the booking search.
A full car licence covers campervans and almost all motorhomes in Australia — nothing special is required for vehicles under 4.5 tonnes. Overseas visitors can drive on a current licence in English (or with an International Driving Permit).
Standard campervans and motorhomes generally are not — insurance excludes unsealed roads except short access roads to campgrounds. If your route includes gravel (much of the NT, Cape York, the Gibb), book a 4WD camper, which is rated and insured for it.
Hire rates include standard cover with an excess (commonly $5,000–$8,000, held as a bond on your card). You can reduce the excess to near zero with the rental company’s excess reduction, or via third-party rental excess insurance which is often cheaper.
Not anywhere you like — most councils prohibit street camping. Use our explorer to find free camps, rest areas that permit overnight stays, and caravan parks along your route; the trip planner will suggest a legal spot for every night automatically.
