The Jarrett 3-Speed 1000 kg hand winch is built for operators who need serious rated capacity with the fatigue-reducing benefit of three selectable gear ratios. At 1000 kg working load, this winch handles larger fibreglass boats, pontoon craft and heavier industrial loads that would over-stress lesser winches. The same 10:1 / 5:1 / 1:1 three-speed system as the 800 kg model — but with a heavier-duty drum and frame rated for the additional load.

When do you actually need 10:1?

At the two hardest moments — breaking the hull off wet rollers at the start, and the final stretch once the boat is clear of the water and its whole weight hangs on the line. Run 5:1 through the middle and direct drive for slack, and the retrieve stays comfortable.

Is 1000 kg enough for my boat?

Add it up properly: hull, motor, full fuel, batteries, gear and whatever lives in the lockers. Then allow for a steep ramp, worn rollers and a wet surface, all of which lift the load the winch actually sees. Borderline against the rating means go to the bigger unit.

Bare drum or the cable version?

Only take the bare drum if the line you are transferring is genuinely sound — no kinks, no broken strands, no rust weeping out of the lay. Most people fitting a new winch are also overdue for new line. Measure winch post to bow eye before you choose either.
