Jarrett Brake Winch 15:1 1250 kg

$1,053.29

Configuration - Bare (no rope/hook)

The Jarrett 15:1 Brake Winch rated to 1250 kg is a heavy-duty industrial and commercial marine grade unit built for demanding applications well beyond typical trailer boats. The 15:1 gear ratio means exceptional mechanical advantage — a single operator can move 1250 kg loads without physical strain. The automatic load-holding brake makes it safe for elevated load handling including mezzanine floors, boat sheds, dry stacks and heavy industrial lifts.

Supplied bare (no rope or hook) as operators at this load capacity typically specify their own wire rope or chain to suit the application's exact requirements.

Common questions about Jarrett Brake Winch 15:1 1250 kg

What else do I need to buy with it?

A line and an end fitting, because it is supplied as a bare drum. At this capacity the rope or chain gets specified for the job, and the wrong cable becomes the weak link in otherwise heavy gear. Match the line's rating to the load you are moving, not to the drum.

Is this overkill for a boat trailer?

For most trailer boats, yes. This is industrial and commercial marine gear — dry stacks, shed hoists, mezzanine lifts. At 15:1 it is deliberately slow, so you would spend a long time at the handle retrieving a runabout that a lighter, faster winch handles without complaint.

What does 15:1 feel like at the handle?

Light, and endless. The high ratio is why a single operator moves 1250 kg without straining, but every bit of leverage you gain comes back as handle turns. For lifting and lowering that is the right trade — slow and controlled is the point. For quick hauls it is tedious.
