Jarrett Brake Winch 5:1 300 kg

$250.00

Configuration - Cable 4mm 6m & Snap Hook

The Jarrett 5:1 Brake Winch rated to 300 kg handles heavier loads than the 3:1 model with the same fully controlled lowering capability. The 5:1 ratio means less handle effort per kilogram lifted — a meaningful difference over repeated hauls. The automatic brake holds the load whenever the handle is stationary, enabling hands-free positioning without relying on the ratchet pawl.

Suitable for boat trailers carrying heavier tinnies and light fibreglass hulls, workshop hoists and general yard lifting where controlled descent is required.

Common questions about Jarrett Brake Winch 5:1 300 kg

How does it compare with the lighter brake winch?

Same controlled lowering, more leverage and a higher rating. The 5:1 takes less effort per kilo at the handle, which you notice across a season of hauls rather than on any single lift. The trade is more turns for the same metre of line coming in.

What is back-roll and why does the brake matter?

On a sloping ramp, a boat that is not fully home wants to run back down the trailer the second you stop cranking. The brake holds it wherever you stop, hands off, instead of you relying on a pawl to catch. That is the entire argument for a brake winch.

Does it come with a line?

Depends which variant you pick — one is a bare drum, the other includes galvanised cable and a snap hook. Replacing an old winch, measure the run from winch post to bow eye first, and retire the old cable rather than carrying its rust and kinks onto a new drum.
