A 175A manual-reset circuit breaker for 12–48V DC systems, sized for battery-to-busbar main feeds and large inverter runs. It resets by hand, so a fault costs you a button press rather than a spare fuse you did not pack.

The F-style base mounts on the surface, the body seals to IP67, and it is ignition protected — so it can live in an engine bay or battery box where fuel vapour is a possibility. The push button opens the circuit on demand for isolation; resetting is a separate, deliberate action. Size the cable to the breaker, not to today's load: the breaker protects the cable, so the cable has to carry what the breaker will pass.

Is 175A overkill for a caravan?

For a van running lights and a fridge, yes. This size is for battery-to-busbar main feeds and large inverter runs, on 2 B&S cable or heavier with 35mm lugs. Protecting a small system with a big breaker means the cable gives up long before the breaker notices.

Surface or flush at this size?

Surface, most of the time. The F-style base bolts onto a battery box wall or a chassis bracket, and heavy cable is easier to route when the studs are out in the open. Flush mounting looks tidier but leaves you working blind behind a panel with 2 B&S cable.

How do I know it is still working?

Press it. The push-to-trip button opens the circuit by hand, so you can prove the mechanism moves and then reset it. Do that when the system is idle rather than mid-cook, check the studs are still tight while you are there, and make a habit of it before long trips.
