A 100A manual-reset circuit breaker in a flush-mount body, sized for DC-DC charger feeds, solar controller inputs and the run between a battery and a busbar. The breaker sits behind the panel with only the reset button and studs presented, which suits a switch panel, battery box lid or purpose-built distribution board.

Sealed to IP67 and ignition protected, it resets by hand rather than consuming a fuse. Size the cable to the breaker rating, not to the load you happen to be running today.

Is 100A right for a DC-DC charger feed?

It is the size this one is aimed at — DC-DC charger feeds, solar controller inputs, and the run between a battery and a busbar. Match it to the cable rather than the charger: 4 B&S minimum with a 25mm lug, and the whole run needs to be that heavy end to end.

How tight do the nuts go?

Firm, not gorilla. The maximum is 50 in-lbs, or 5.6 N•m, which is less than most people apply with a spanner and a grudge. Over-torquing distorts the stud and cracks the thermoset housing; under-torquing leaves a hot joint. A small torque wrench earns its keep on a 100A feed.

Can this replace my main battery isolator?

It can open the circuit by hand, which is handy when you are working on the system, but it is a protection device first. If you want a switch you flick every trip, fit a dedicated isolator and let the breaker sit there doing the job it is certified for.
