Common questions about Diesel Heater 12V Caravan Camper Trailer Van Air Motorhome 5kW Volt Parking RV
How noisy are these in practice?
The blower is the quiet part. What people actually notice is the fuel pump ticking away, carried through whatever it is bolted to. Mount the pump on rubber, away from the bed head, and the difference is night and day. Outside, there is a low exhaust hum your neighbours will hear.
Can I use it in a boat as well as a van?
Yes, and the reason it suits both a van and a boat is that combustion is sealed off from the cabin air. That only holds while the exhaust and intake stay outside and every joint stays tight. Fit a carbon monoxide alarm wherever you install it, and test it before each trip.
Will it run on ordinary servo diesel?
Standard pump diesel is what it wants. The thing that causes grief is fuel sitting for months in a small integrated tank, going gummy and blocking a very fine fuel line. Use it, or drain it, between trips rather than leaving it full from Easter through to the following winter.
