The BOAB FTP55U 55 Litre Rectangular Poly Diesel Tank is engineered for Australian conditions, giving caravanners, 4WD tourers, and RV travellers a reliable on-board diesel reserve when heading into remote outback territory. Constructed from UV-stabilised, high-density polyethylene (HDPE), this tank resists the harsh Australian sun, corrosion, and the knocks of corrugated dirt roads without adding the weight penalty of a steel alternative. Its compact rectangular profile — designed specifically for underbody, tray, or toolbox mounting — maximises usable carrying capacity while keeping your load-carrying solution clean and practical.
Purpose-built for the serious Australian camper and 4WD enthusiast, the FTP55U is the ideal solution for extended touring where remote fuel stops can be hundreds of kilometres apart — think the Gibb River Road, Strzelecki Track, or the Canning Stock Route. Compatible with 12V transfer pumps (sold separately), it can top up your main tank while on the move or at camp. Whether you're running a dual-cab ute, a heavy-duty caravan setup, a motorhome, or a troop carrier, this BOAB poly tank delivers the extra fuel range and peace of mind that serious off-road travel demands across Australia's vast interior.
No. It is a storage and transfer tank, not a plumbed long-range tank. You carry the diesel, then move it into the vehicle's main tank with a 12V transfer pump, which is not part of the tank. If you want fuel feeding the engine automatically, that is a different install altogether.
Around 50 kg once it is full, on top of roughly 4.5 kg of empty tank. That is payload you have to account for on a ute tray or in a van, and it sits wherever you bolt it. Think about which axle it lands over before you start drilling anything.
No. It is rated for diesel only, and petrol is not something to experiment with in a tank that was not built for it. If you tour on petrol, buy a container specifically approved for it. The polyethylene and the seals in this one are matched to diesel and nothing else.
