Common questions

Can I put petrol in it?

No. This one is built for diesel and it is yellow so nobody makes that mistake at a servo at dusk. Petrol needs a tank rated and vented for it. If you run a petrol vehicle, walk past this and get the right jerry for the job.

How do I get the fuel back into the vehicle?

With a pump you supply. The base outlet is threaded for standard transfer pump fittings, and a 12V rotary or diaphragm pump is the usual answer. There is no pump in the box, so factor one in or you will be standing there with 42 litres you cannot move.

Where do I put it when it is full?

Low, upright and strapped down. It is only about 3.5 kg empty, but full it carries real momentum in a stop, so it belongs in a ute tub or a cargo bay with proper tie down points, not loose behind the seats. Keep the vented cap accessible so you can check it.

Manufacturer Warranty

Boab Offroad, warranted by BWI, offers a 1-year warranty on accessories and a 3-year warranty on tents and awnings, starting from the date of original purchase as shown on your invoice. This warranty covers:

Manufacturing defects
Faults in materials or workmanship

Warranty Periods:

0 to 2 Years (Tents & Awnings): Defective products are replaced, with return shipping and parts covered by BWI.
2 to 3 Years (Tents & Awnings): Products with manufacturer faults are repaired or replaced, with parts and labor covered by BWI; return shipping is at the buyer’s expense.
0 to 1 Year (Accessories): Defective products are replaced, with return shipping and parts covered by BWI.

Extended warranties may apply to selected products as noted on packaging. If you encounter an issue with your Boab product, please contact us for assistance.

What’s Not Covered by the Warranty

The Boab warranty does not cover normal wear and tear, consumable items, or issues arising from:

Misuse, alterations, neglect, negligence, damage, or accidents
Improper maintenance, operation, or installation
Installation not following BWI’s instructions or by qualified personnel
Non-compliance with vehicle, engine, or equipment manufacturer recommendations
Insufficient or excessive electrical supply, or undue environmental conditions
Use in vehicles modified from their original specification in ways impacting product performance

How to Make a Warranty Claim

If you suspect a manufacturing defect with your Boab product, stop using it and follow these steps:

Contact Camping Australia: Reach out to us at contact@campingaustralia.com.au. Provide your original proof of purchase (e.g., invoice) and a written explanation of the issue.
Return for Assessment: Return the product to us at your expense (unless covered under the 0-2 year tent/awning or 0-1 year accessory period). We’ll coordinate with BWI for assessment. Additional information may be requested to support your claim.
Decision: BWI will determine if the claim is valid. For minor failures, they may repair or replace the product at their discretion. You’ll be notified in writing. If invalid, you’ll need to arrange collection at your expense or authorize disposal.

Australia Only:
Our goods come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law.
