Not a downgrade, a different way of driving it. On a bigger heater you tend to run low and steady anyway, and a knob makes that easy to set and leave. What you give up is holding a set temperature unattended, which matters more if you are out all day.
Probably. In a small, well-sealed van a heater this size reaches temperature fast and then spends the night idling, which is noisier at every restart and dirtier inside over time. You end up cracking a window to balance it, which is a daft way to use fuel.
Quieter than most people expect once it settles, louder than you want at start-up and shutdown when the fan runs hard. The fuel pump ticks as well, so mount it away from the bed and clip the fuel line off the chassis rather than hard against it.
