Is 2kW enough for my van?

For most single-room caravans and camper trailers, yes, and undersizing is the lesser sin. A heater matched to the space runs steadily instead of firing up, overshooting and shutting down, which is where soot and hard starts come from. Canvas-walled campers lose heat faster, so expect longer run times.

What does the digital controller give me over the rotary?

A number instead of a feel. You set a target temperature and read back what the cabin is doing, which suits people who want the heater to hold a room at one setting overnight. The rotary version is a knob you nudge up and down yourself, with less to learn.

Does it make the van damp like a gas heater?

No, the opposite. Combustion happens in a sealed chamber with its exhaust outside, so what comes out of the ducting is dry cabin air that has been warmed, not the water vapour an unflued gas heater puts into the room. Windows stay clearer on a cold night.
