Overview

A 2kW 12V diesel-fired air heater kit with rotary controller, for caravan and camper trailer heating.

Common questions

Why choose the rotary controller?

Because there is nothing to menu through. You turn it up when you are cold and down when you are not, and anyone in the van can work it without being shown. The trade-off is that you are the thermostat, so it will not hold a set temperature by itself overnight.

Where should it go in the van?

Somewhere with clear floor beneath for the exhaust and intake, and as far from the bed as the ducting allows. The unit itself is quiet once it settles; the fuel pump tick and the start-up fan are what wake people. Under a front seat box or a wardrobe usually beats under the bed.

Can I run it off the same tank as the tow vehicle?

Most people do not. A separate diesel tank keeps the heater's supply away from your driving fuel, so a long night of heating cannot leave you short in the morning. Whichever way you go, the fuel line has a maximum length, so plan the tank, pump and heater positions together.
