Common questions about Kamado Big Joe™ BBQ Grill - Series II Standalone (BJ24NRHC)
What do I need to have ready before this one turns up?
A bench or built-in surround that carries it. The standalone has no cart, so 137.9 kg sits on whatever you build. Framing needs to take that load with the dome open, and you want the 85.7 cm body height to land your grate at a comfortable working level.
Standalone or the cart version?
Take the standalone only if the outdoor kitchen is already drawn up. Dropped into masonry it looks built-in and the folding side shelves stay usable, but you lose the wheels, so it is not moving again. Renting, or still deciding where the kitchen goes, the cart model is the safer buy.
Can I run low-and-slow overnight without babysitting it?
Close to it, once you know the grill. Ceramic walls and a tight lid seal mean a low smoke around 107°C will sit where you left it through a long cook. The catch is the first hour: settle the fire and set the vents before bed, not after.
