Is 2000kg the right rating for my trailer?

Compare it against your trailer's ATM, not its tare or what you think you load. The rating has to be equal to or above the fully loaded figure on the plate, and there is no credit for towing gently. If your ATM sits close to 2000kg, step up a rating.

Will it suit my towball?

It takes a 50mm ball, which is the standard size on Australian tow vehicles, so most people are already set. Check anyway if the vehicle came from overseas or has an older hitch, and check the ball itself for flat spots, because a worn ball chews a new coupling out quickly.

What does the plated finish mean for coastal use?

It slows corrosion, it does not stop it. Plating handles rain and road spray well, but salt air and boat ramps will still find the sliding shaft and the pivot pins. Hose the coupling down after any beach trip and keep the moving parts greased, and it will keep working smoothly.
