Common questions

Is the 8mm the one for heavy work?

It is the heaviest S hook in the range, and the bar is stiff enough that a hard pull will not open it out. What it will not do is stay captive, because the ends are still open. Size is not the limit here; the shape is.

Will 8mm fit through my chain or eye bolt?

Check the hole first. An 8 mm bar needs more than 8 mm of clearance to hook and unhook cleanly, and small chain, light eye bolts and most tie-down rails will not take it. Plenty of buyers order heavy and then cannot fit it.

Where do these hooks let go in practice?

When the load swings or goes slack. Corrugations, a boat in a chop, wind gusting on an annexe wall, that is when an open hook walks off its anchor. Mouse the gap with light line or cable tie and the problem disappears.
