Common questions

Is 10mm bar overkill for camp and boat work?

For awnings and tarps, yes. This is mooring bridle, heavy tie-down and anchor rode territory, where a lighter ring would flex. On a camper it mostly adds weight, though it is the one to choose if the ring sits somewhere it can be knocked or chafed.

Will 80mm swallow my webbing?

Take the 10 mm bar off each side of the 80 mm outside and you still have a generous gap, so wide strap, doubled rope and heavy cord all pass. That is the reason to go big: not strength, but room to thread what you are using.

Any catch with a ring this heavy?

A couple. It swings hard enough to mark gelcoat or paintwork if it is left loose on a line, so tie it off. And it is still unrated, so a heavy ring is not a licence to use it as lifting or recovery gear.
