What is a round ring good for that a Dee is not?

A round ring lets several lines pull from any direction without any of them jamming into a corner. That makes it the fitting for a bridle, a gathering point for canopy lines, or anywhere the angle of pull keeps changing as things move.

Is the join a weak point?

On any closed ring the join is the place to look. A clean, evenly finished joint is what you want; a lumpy or pitted joint is a crevice waiting to corrode from within. No rated capacity is published for it either, so keep it out of lifting work.

How do I size a ring for a bridle?
