Will it hold on a reef or in weed?
Not well. Flat flukes need something to dig into, so sand, silt and soft mud are where this design earns its place. Over rubble, reef or thick weed the flukes skate across the top. Carry a reef pick as well if you fish both.
What else does it need to hold properly?
Chain and scope matter as much as the anchor. A length of chain between the shank and the rope keeps the pull horizontal so the flukes bite rather than tipping out. Then let out several boat lengths of line, not just enough to reach the bottom.
Is it enough as my only anchor?
On a tinnie fishing sandy bays and estuaries, yes. Beyond that it is better thought of as the anchor you use most and a kedge to back up something heavier. If you anchor overnight or in exposed water, do not rely on flukes alone.
