Common questions about Oakford 875 Pro Pellet Grill
What does PID control actually do for my cooking?
It stops the temperature swinging. Simpler controllers overshoot and then dip; a PID reads the drift and trims the auger before it happens, so your set temperature stays close to flat. On a long smoke that is the difference between even bark and a patchy one.
Why two meat probes instead of one?
Because a big cook is never uniform. Run a probe into the thickest part of the meat and the second beside it at grate level, and you can see what the food is doing against what the chamber is doing. That is how you catch a stall for what it is.
How much cleaning does a pellet grill need?
More than people expect. Ash builds in the fire pot and will choke the burn if you leave it, so vacuum it out every few cooks. The grease bucket needs emptying before it overflows, and the porcelain grids come clean easiest while they are still warm.
