Overview

A black 12–24V DC cigarette socket rated 10A, with an IP65 rubber cap over the socket when nothing is plugged in. The standard round outlet for a compressor, a fridge lead or a phone charger.

Terminals are nickel-plated copper 6.3mm spades, so it wires in with standard blade terminals rather than needing a special connector.

Common questions

What can I actually run off 10A?

Phone and laptop chargers, LED lighting, a fridge lead and most camp gear with a round plug on it. What it will not carry is a big tyre compressor or an inverter, which draw well past 10A and want a heavy-duty outlet wired straight to the battery instead.

Is the IP65 rating good enough for an outside wall?

With the cap shut, yes. With a plug in it, the seal is gone and you are back to an open hole facing the weather. Mount it under an awning or in a hatch rather than on a bare exterior wall, and get in the habit of closing the cap.

What size hole do I cut?

The minimum is 29.2mm, and a 28.8mm body means there is not much slop to hide a rough cut. Check clearance behind before you start, because the body needs depth and the spade terminals need more again. Deburr the edge so the hole does not chew the wiring later.
