Common questions about Camp Chef 14" Deluxe Dutch Oven

Why is the 14 inch only 8 quarts?

Because it is wide and shallow rather than deep. That shape suits roasts, damper and anything you want browned on top, since more of the food sits close to the lid heat. For a deep stew, a narrower oven of similar volume holds its temperature on fewer coals.

What do the lid lifter and lid stand save me?

Ash in the dinner. Both come in the box. Lifting a coal-loaded lid by hand means tipping it, and everything on top slides straight into the pot below. The lifter keeps it level, and the stand gives you somewhere to park it other than the dirt.

Is 10.4 kg realistic for camping?

For a van, camper or 4WD with a drawer system, yes. For anything you carry far, no. Empty it is already 10.4 kg, and loaded with a leg of lamb it becomes a two-person lift off the coals. Sort out where it stores before you commit to this size.
