Common questions about SS316 Split Side Mount with Screw 25mm

What does the 25mm refer to?

The outside diameter of the tube it clamps to, so 25mm tube, not 25mm bore. Frame tube varies between makers, so put calipers across your own rail before ordering. A split mount that sits a touch loose will keep working itself round no matter how hard you nip the screw.

Why a split mount instead of a slide-on one?

A split body opens up and closes around the tube, so you can add it partway along a rail that is already bolted down at both ends. A slide mount has to go on from a free end. If your frame is built and you are adding a fitting, split wins.

Will it hold a canopy in real wind?

It holds the frame together, not the weather out. A side mount clamps by friction on the tube, so in a solid blow the canopy load ends up trying to spin it. Drop the awning when the wind gets up rather than trusting any single clamp fitting to hold.
