Common questions about SS316 Light Pole Base

What does the base do that a bracket cannot?

It gives an all-round pole a proper seated socket and a bolt pattern to spread the leverage into the deck. A navigation or work light on a pole is a long lever in a chop, and a flat bracket concentrates all that movement into a couple of fixings.

Will my existing light pole fit it?

Check the pole diameter and the fitting style first, because no dimensions are listed here and pole bases are not universal. Some take a plug-in pin, some a threaded collar. Knowing which your light uses before ordering saves you a base that will not accept the pole.

Does the wiring run through it?

Plan the cable route before you drill, because not every base passes a cable through the middle. If the wiring does go through the deck under the base, that hole needs sealing properly or you will wick salt water into the core. A grommet and a sealant bed matter.
