What does lightless mean here?

The bracket carries the side camera without the marker light housing the standard bracket uses, and a dummy cover fills the gap. You want this set when your van already has its clearance lights sorted, or where another glow beside the camera would do you no favours.

Do I need both sides if only one bracket broke?

Not strictly, but they come as a pair and a sun-faded bracket next to a fresh one looks exactly as odd as it sounds. If one has cracked from vibration the other has done the same kilometres, so most people fit both while the ladder is already out.

Will these suit the newer Vision S Plus cameras?

They are listed for Vision S side cameras, so treat later gear as a separate question and check the camera body against the bracket before you drill anything. Mounting patterns change between generations, and a hole in the side wall is not something you want to do twice.
