Is 12x too much to hold steady?

For most people, past a minute or so, yes. At 12 times magnification every heartbeat shows up in the image. Brace against a door frame, a bull bar or an awning leg and the view settles instantly. If you want to sit and scan for an hour, plan on a tripod.

Will these work for birds around camp?

Not the close ones. Close focus sits around 5 m, so anything in the tree above your chair is a blur. These are built for distance: a raptor over a ridge, a whale offshore, or reading a track ahead. Garden-range birding wants less magnification and a closer focus.

Do they suit someone who wears glasses?

Partly. Eye relief is about 15 mm, which works with the eyecups folded down but gets tight if your lenses sit well off your eyes. The dioptre ring on the right eyepiece corrects a difference between your eyes, so plenty of people end up leaving the glasses in a pocket.
