Can I run it off my batteries?

Not realistically. It needs 230V and draws around 740W cooling, so you are looking at a powered site, a decent generator, or a large inverter and a battery bank to match. Treat it as a caravan park appliance and plan your free camping around fans.

Will it fit where my old air conditioner or hatch was?

If the opening is 400 x 400mm, yes — that is the standard roof cutout most vans already have from a hatch or an older unit. Check the roof structure can carry 29kg sitting up there, and that the ceiling below has the depth for the internal assembly.

Is reverse cycle heating enough in winter?
