How big a van will 2.6kW handle?

Small to medium. In a compact, well-insulated van with the blinds down it holds temperature nicely. Put it in a long van or a canvas-ended camper in the Top End and it will run flat out without ever catching up. Match the box to the space, not to optimism.

Will it heat the van on a frosty morning?

Down to a point. The heat pump works from -7°C, but like every heat pump it gets weaker as the outside air gets colder, so at the bottom of that range it is taking the edge off rather than warming the van. Below that, a diesel heater is the answer.

What about noise at night?

It is the usual rooftop trade: dual fan motors and rubber dampers take the edge off, but a compressor a metre above your pillow is never silent. Sleep mode drops the fan back, which most people find is the difference between background hum and lying awake.
