Common questions about Baintech Anderson to Anderson Extension Cable 5m 40A
Will five metres of cable lose me fridge performance?
Not meaningfully at fridge loads. The AWG10 (2.6 mm²) conductor is heavy enough that a 5 m run holds voltage well under the sort of current a 12V fridge pulls. Where you feel a long lead is at the top of the 40 A rating, not at a few amps.
Can I use it to bring a portable solar panel closer to the sun?
Yes, that is one of its best uses. Five metres lets you park in shade and put the panel in the open. Keep the protective covers clipped when it is unplugged, because a grubby Anderson face is the usual reason a connection starts running warm.
Is 40 amps enough for a DC-to-DC charger?
For the common caravan chargers, yes, provided your unit's input draw sits under the 40 A rating. Check the charger's own figure rather than its output number, because input current is higher. Anything hungrier wants heavier cable than AWG10 and a shorter run than five metres.
