With the wide-stance base and the bikes spread across it, yes. The way it goes over is uneven loading: a couple of bikes at one end and nothing at the other makes it easy to tip. Load from the middle outwards and keep it off soft or sloping ground.
Both, but be realistic about space. It is a solid steel frame that needs room in a boot or a van tunnel to travel. If the whole family rides at every stop it earns its keep. For a weekend away with one bike, it is more gear than the trip really needs.
Each other, mostly. The angled arms keep every bike separated so bars, discs and derailleurs are not leaning on the next frame along. Falling bikes are what bends a rear derailleur, and a stack of them propped against the caravan wall is how the gel coat gets scratched.
