5 Great Tasmanian Camping Destinations

Matt Pryse · April 15, 2022

This small island packs a mighty big punch in the camping stakes, including the world-renowned Bay of Fires Conservation Area.

Jeanneret Beach Camping Area

Jeanneret Beach Camping Area

It’s hard to believe you can stay somewhere as beautiful as the Bay of Fires, and not have to pay through the nose – or, indeed, pay at all.

The Bay of Fires Conservation Area is famous for its multi-day walk along the bay, but if you aren’t the hiking sort, set up tent at Jeanneret Bay camping area and enjoy the best views money can’t buy.

This cove has shaded sites, suitable for larger vans, where you can sit back and take in the views. The proximity to the water means this no-bookings, no-fee site is perfect for the various water activities on offer in the area.

Myrtle Park Recreation Ground

Setting up camp at Myrtle Park Recreation Ground is like striking camping gold. Surrounded by riverbank willows and next to a burbling river, the camping area has room for large rigs and the whole family (including the dog).

There’s a playground and a small kiosk on site, as well as all of the essential amenities, so if you don’t feel like stirring from your campsite, you won’t have to.

Neck Reserve Camping Area

Whether you come for the cheese, the seafood or the penguins, Bruny Island is well worth a visit.

This campsite is hidden behind the dunes at Neck Beach, and has a fantastic set-up with everything you need as a base camp for exploring the island.

There are toilets, picnic tables and a fireplace, as well as proximity to great fishing, surfing and swimming spots.

Springlawn Camping Area

Narawntapu National Parl is host to an abundance of wildlife, including wombats and wallabies. Most people come to the national park to get up close and personal to some of Australia’s best-loved native animals. It also helps that the area is spectacularly beautiful.

Springlawn camping area is the most well-equipped campsite in Narawntapu National Park, and is a great place to stay while exploring the park. Facilities at the camping area include hot showers and drinking water.

Good quality tents are your home away from home and a must to really enjoy these wonderful destinations, check out our extensive range at Camping Australia.
