Common questions about SS316 Swivel Eye/Eye

Eye/eye, eye/jaw or jaw/jaw, how do I pick?

Match the ends to what you are joining. Eye and eye takes a shackle or a spliced line at both ends, which is the flexible choice when you are not sure yet. Jaw ends pin straight onto a flat tang or chain link with no shackle in between.

Can I use it as a lifting point?

No rated working load is published for it, so keep it out of overhead lifting, towing and recovery work. It is rigging and anchoring hardware. If a failure would drop something on a person or snap back at them, buy gear that comes with a certified rating.

Will a swivel stop my anchor chain twisting?

Partly. A swivel in the rode lets built-up turns unwind while there is tension on the line, but it will not untwist slack chain sitting in the locker. Keep it away from the anchor shank where side loading can bend it, put it further up the rode.
