Common questions

Will 5m x 2.4m actually cover my awning area?

It is sized for 18ft to 21ft dual-axle vans, so it runs most of the van's length and out to roughly the edge of a rolled-out awning. On a shorter van you will have mat to spare. On a big tandem tourer the awning ends sit on dirt.

Does it need pegging, or will it sit on its own?

Peg it. At 5kg it is light enough for a gust to lift a corner and flip the lot into the neighbour's setup, and once it folds over on itself you have a trip hazard in the dark. The stainless eyelets are there for exactly that reason.

Will it kill the grass underneath?

Not the way a solid tarp does. The weave lets water and air through, which is why parks that ban plastic ground sheets generally accept mats like this one. Move it and shake it out every few days on a long stay and the grass comes back fine.
