Common questions about Coast RV John Guest Push-Fit Straight Connector | 12mm Plumbing
What would I actually use a straight connector for?
Joining, repairing and extending. Most vans get one fitted when a line is nicked during another job, or when a pump is relocated and the old run no longer reaches. Carrying a couple of straights plus a tube cutter turns a trip-ending water leak into a roadside fix you can do at camp.
Will it handle the pressure from my water pump?
Far more than your pump makes. Rated to 10 bar, it is not the part that will let go; van water pumps cut out well below that. The weak links in a van are usually the soft hose sections, old clamps and the tap bodies, so chase those before blaming a fitting.
Is it safe on a drinking water line?
Yes, it is rated for potable water, so it belongs on a drinking line rather than only on the grey side. The acetal body copes with the usual tank sanitising chemicals, though a long soak at heavy strength is hard on any plastic. Mix to the label and flush properly afterwards.
