Will it work with the water hose already in my van?
Only if that hose is semi-rigid tube with a true 12mm outside diameter. Push-fit relies on the tube wall staying round while the grab ring bites, and soft reinforced hose squashes instead of sealing. If your van is plumbed in floppy braided hose, barb fittings and clamps are the right answer.
Can I pull it apart if I route the line wrong?
Yes, push the collar in and the tube pulls out, which is the main reason people plumb vans with these. Do check the tube end each time. A scratched or oval end that has been in and out a few times will weep, so trim it square and push it fully home.
Can I use it on the hot water line?
It is marginal. The rating is 60°C, and a gas or electric van heater set high can sit at or above that, particularly the first metre out of the unit. Plenty of vans run these on hot lines without drama, but keep them away from the heater outlet and check the thermostat setting.
