Sweet ‘n’ Smokey Green Beans Recipe
400 g cut green beans, drained
1 Tbsp garlic salt
110 g unsalted butter
2 cups packed light brown sugar
3 slices thick-cut bacon, halved
Suggested wood chips: Hickory or Pecan
- Preheat smoker to 120°C.
- Drain beans and place in a square disposable aluminium foil pan. Sprinkle garlic salt over beans. Cut butter in half and push the halves down into the beans.
- Sprinkle brown sugar over beans and cover with bacon slices. (To be less sweet, cut back on sugar by ½ cup.) Cover with aluminium foil and place on the second rack of smoker and smoke for 1½ hours. Remove aluminium foil and smoke for an additional 30 minutes. Remove from smoker and discard bacon. Stir beans well before serving.
