Common questions about Hark Heavy Duty Leather Gloves
Why leather when silicone gloves rate far hotter?
Different jobs. Leather rates to 240 degrees, which covers grates, racks and firewood, and it takes abrasion and sparks in a way silicone does not. Throw a log on a fire pit wearing silicone and you will mark them. Leather just wears in and keeps going.
What is the long cuff worth?
It is the difference between reaching into a fire pit and not. Most burns land on the inside of the forearm when you lean over coals, and a short glove leaves that bare. This one runs well past the wrist, so the whole approach is covered.
Can I hold a hot grate indefinitely in these?
No glove lets you do that. A 240 degree rating covers contact long enough to lift and place, not a handle you hang onto while working out where it goes. Decide the destination first, then pick it up. Leather also stiffens badly if you soak it.
