Common questions about Hark 2 Door Smoker Cover
Is a cover worth it if the smoker lives under an awning?
Yes, because sun is not the only enemy. An awning keeps rain off and does nothing about dust, wind-blown grit, insects nesting in the chip box or birds overhead. A fitted cover keeps the inside of the cabinet as clean as the outside between cooks.
Can I put it on straight after a cook?
No. Let the cabinet go properly cold first, because a cover over a warm smoker traps moisture against the powder coat, and that is how you get rust under the very thing meant to prevent it. Wait until it is cool to the hand, and never cover it damp.
Would a generic cover do the same job?
It will flap. This one is cut to the two-door cabinet, and a loose cover moves in the wind, which sands away at the powder coat and eventually drags itself off the unit. A snug fit also stops water pooling on top instead of running off the sides.
