Does it actually work on soft sand?

On damp, firm sand yes. In dry, deep sand it turns into a drag rather than a roll, as any wheeled cart does without balloon tyres. Load it lighter for soft ground, keep the weight over the rear wheels, and use the firmer track down to the water.

Is the 120kg rating a real number or a best case?

It is the gross rating, and you will hit awkward well before you hit heavy. A tub of firewood, an esky and a couple of camp chairs is a comfortable load. 120kg of anything dense sits low and makes the cart a handful to steer on a slope.

Where does it live when it is folded?
