One under the low-side wheel does the levelling, and a second on the high side chocks the van once it sits where you want it. On a tandem you want a pair per side, because driving one wheel up while its partner stays down puts a twist through the axle group.
A curved ramp can squirt forward on concrete or hard-packed gravel as the tyre tries to climb it. Back it against something solid or have someone hold it, drive up slowly rather than in a rush, and stop the moment a spirit level says you are there.
Sites that slope more than one ramp can fix. Stacking buys you height, but only on firm ground and only stacked square. On soft sand or wet grass put a board underneath first, or the whole tower sinks under load and you are levelling all over again.
