Trailer Adaptor 6-Pin to 7-Pin (P6SM–P7SF)

Overview
Bearing Buddy-style hubmate bearing protectors for boat trailers. The spring-loaded hub cap stays pressurised with grease, preventing water from entering the wheel bearing cavity when the hot trailer is submerged at the boat ramp — the most common cause of trailer wheel bearing failure. When a dry or low-grease hub hits cold water at the ramp, it draws water past the seal like a pump. A bearing protector eliminates this by maintaining positive grease pressure at all times.
Sold as a pair. Check the visual grease level indicator before each trip — if the cap is sitting flat rather than slightly proud, re-grease immediately.
Common questions
Do I still need to service the bearings if I fit these?
Yes. A protector keeps water out of a well-greased hub; it does not repack a bearing or replace a worn one. Pull the hubs apart at least once a season if you launch in salt, and look for milky grease, which means water already got in.
Should I get these or the version with dust covers?
These suit trailers that live on bitumen and see the ramp. If you tow long stretches of gravel or beach track between launches, the version with dust covers keeps grit off the spring cap and will last longer between services. That is the pick for unsealed roads.
Do these help on a trailer that never gets submerged?
Less than you would think. The pumping effect that draws water past a seal needs a hot hub hitting cold water, so a box trailer that stays dry gains little. The real win is for boat and jet ski trailers that get backed in regularly.
