Common questions
Will this work in an old car with no CarPlay?
That is exactly who it is for. It sits on the dash, powers off the lighter socket and sends audio to the existing speakers through the FM transmitter, so a car from before smartphones gets maps and calls. FM is the compromise — it is not the same as a wired head unit.
Is the reverse camera as plug and play as the screen?
The screen is. The camera is not. The head unit clips on and off the dash in seconds, but the camera still has to be mounted at the back of the vehicle and a cable run forward. Budget an afternoon for that part, or a visit to an auto electrician.
Where can I legally mount a 7 inch screen?
Check your state rules before you stick it anywhere. A 7 inch screen is big enough to block a slice of the windscreen, and road rules on driver vision and screen placement differ around the country. Low and central, clear of your view of the road, is the safe default.
