If your old vent uses the standard 355 x 355 mm cutout, yes, and that is the size on most Australian vans. Measure the hole itself rather than the old flange, because the flange sits proud of the cutout by a fair margin and will mislead you.
Exhaust in the shower and over the kitchen, pulling steam and cooking smells straight out. Intake at night in still weather, pushing cooler air in while you crack a window at the far end of the van. Being able to reverse it is what earns its keep.
With the lid closed, yes, and that is how you clear shower steam on a wet afternoon. Airflow with the lid down is a fraction of what you get with it raised, so expect it to take considerably longer to shift the humidity out of the van.
