Do I need 10 m, or will a shorter run do?

Measure the run before you choose. 10 m suits a long van with outlets at both ends, or an under-bunk unit ducted forward through cupboards. Ducting hates tight bends and long runs, so buy enough to route it in gentle curves rather than stretching a short length taut.

Will a longer run cut the airflow at the vents?

Yes. Every metre and every bend takes pressure out of the system. If you are running the full 10 m, keep the bends wide, support the duct so it does not sag into kinks, and expect the furthest vent to blow softer than the one nearest the unit.

Can I use generic hardware-store ducting instead?

You can make it fit, but insulated ducting matters more than people think. Uninsulated pipe sweats inside a cupboard and drips onto whatever is stored there, and it gives away cool air before it reaches the vent. Genuine duct also matches the collar sizes on Furrion units.
