Yes, there is no card in the box. It takes microSD up to 128GB and wants Class 10 or U3 speed, because 4K writes a lot of data every second and a slow card drops frames or stops recording without telling you. A high-endurance card is the one to look for.
The rated range runs to +70°C, which covers a moving car in the outback but is close to what a closed cabin reaches parked in the sun. It runs off the 12V/24V socket, so it is off when the car is off anyway. Park in shade and it will last years.
Shorter is usually better. On 1 minute segments a corrupt file loses you a minute rather than a whole block, and the clip you need is easier to find and send. The catch is that the G-sensor locks the segment it is on, so a short file can clip the aftermath. 3 minutes splits the difference.
