Common questions about Camco Refrigerator Vent Base

Is this the whole vent or just part of it?

Just the base. The roof vent on a caravan fridge is a two-piece job, so if your top cover is the bit that cracked or blew off, this is the wrong half. Get up on the roof and look before ordering either piece.

Does a damaged vent base actually affect how the fridge runs?

It can. An absorption fridge sheds its heat up through that roof vent, so a cracked or missing base lets water in and disturbs the airflow the cooling stack relies on. A fridge that struggles in hot weather is sometimes a venting problem, not a fridge problem.

How do I know it will match my roof opening?

Measure the existing opening and compare the old base before you pull anything apart. Camco roof vents are common on Australian vans, but there are other makes up there that look similar from the ground. Take a photo of the old part while it is still fitted.
