Common questions about Camco Lights Out Retractable RV Roof Vent Shade

Will it fit my van's vent?

It is made for a standard RV roof vent, which covers most of what is fitted to caravans and motorhomes here. Get up there and measure the opening before you order. A hatch that is not a standard size will not take it, and that is a check worth two minutes.

Does it keep the heat out or just the light?

Light. It blocks what comes through the vent so a summer sunrise does not have you awake at five, but it is a shade, not insulation. If heat is your problem you want a vent fan or an insulated hatch cover — different job, different product.

Can I leave the vent open with the shade down?

Yes, and that is the whole point of it. Air keeps moving through while the light is blocked, so you can sleep with the hatch cracked on a warm night without the moon or the park lighting in your eyes. Pull it back up in the morning and forget about it.
