Common questions
Do I need a special tool, or can I crimp these with pliers?
A proper Deutsch-style crimper, yes. These contacts rely on a controlled crimp profile to grip and seal, and pliers give you a joint that passes a tug test in the shed then fails on corrugations months later. The tool is not in the kit.
Is IP67 enough for a connector that gets dunked at the boat ramp?
For a ramp dunking, yes, provided you seal both ends. The rating assumes the wedgelock is clicked fully home and no cavity is left open. Sloppy crimps and an unsealed wire entry undo it faster than any amount of water pressure ever will.
Is 117 pieces more than one vehicle build needs?
Usually, and that is the point. These get used a few at a time across a build, so a kit in the drawer means you are not driving to town mid-job. Two-pin handles lights, sensors and switches, but anything multi-circuit needs a larger DT series.
