Discovery Parks - Ayr is a relaxed family-friendly park in the sugarcane town of Ayr, on the Bruce Highway halfway between Townsville and Bowen. Accommodation includes one and two-bedroom self-contained cabins, ensuite powered caravan sites and grass camp pitches set under shady palms. Onsite facilities include a heated swimming pool, jumping pillow, kids' playground, camp kitchen and BBQ pavilions. The park makes an excellent stopover or base for visiting Alva Beach (one of Queensland's best fishing spots), the SS Yongala wreck dive, the historic town of Ayr itself, the Burdekin River, and as a launching point further north toward the Whitsunday Coast and the Great Barrier Reef.
